During my rehearsals for my last three shows at OKTC, I started a tradition called “Sunday Morning Dance Parties,” where I would play a song on Sunday morning (or afternoon, as it may be) at the start of rehearsal and dance like a maniac with my cast. My wonderful choreographer from those shows, Ceris, is currently directing and choreographing Disney’s Winnie the Pooh KIDS at OKTC and I am thrilled that she is continuing the tradition with her cast! Here‘s the playlist I created a year ago for the cast of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr., so I’m clearly overdue for a new one!
It’s important to me that songs I play when I’m working with kids are upbeat, fairly current, and have clean content (as much as possible!). I don’t care what they listen to at home — when they’re with me, I don’t want them listening to songs with questionable lyrics! Featuring songs by artists such as Taylor Swift, Charli XCX and Calvin Harris, this playlist is rated F for FUN! and comes with a “let’s play it again!” guarantee!
(Just in case you need it, here’s a Pinterest-friendly version of the album cover!)
