Excitement Coming Up: Auditions for The Wedding Singer!

Musical Theatre Productions presents The Wedding Singer

Hello everyone! It has been a busy, exciting, confusing, [insert adjective here] year thus far. Suffice to say there is (and has been) a lot going on, but what’s coming up most quickly for me is auditions for Musical Theatre Productions’ The Wedding Singer!

I am so excited to be directing this show for the second time (the first was back in 2014 with Original Kids Theatre Company) and to get to meet and work with all sorts of great people!

So how can you get involved with this hilarious, adorable, rockin’ musical? Check out the audition information below, and send us an email to sign up for an audition slot! Would you rather be involved in a backstage capacity? Email us about that too, because we can definitely use your help!

Break out your crimpers and powder blue tuxedos to as Musical Theatre Productions heads back to the 80s with THE WEDDING SINGER! Based on the hilarious hit film starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore and featuring songs that harken to your favourite 80s artists, we cordially invite you to just say yes to the most romantic musical comedy of the decade.

Tuesday September 18th from 6:00-10:00pm

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Please prepare :

(1) one to two minute song or selection of a song from a contemporary musical that shows your range as a singer and an actor. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided

(1) comedic monologue from a play or a musical, thirty seconds to one minute in length.

For men interested in the roles of the Simply Wed Band, a short musical selection that shows your skill level on guitar (ROBBIE), bass (SAMMY), or keyboard/tambourine/etc. (GEORGE). Previous experience with the instruments above are an asset when auditioning for these roles, but they are not a requirement to be cast in these parts. A keyboard will be provided, but please bring any other instruments required.

Please also be prepared to learn a short combination of choreography to music from the show, to see your movement abilities. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes (running shoes are acceptable), and bring water.
