Robin Hood, Teaching T.A.G., and a Drunken Orangutan… Oh My! (An Update)

Robin Hood, Teaching T.A.G., and a Drunken Orangutan... Oh My! (An Update)

There’s been a bit of radio silence around these parts, because it’s been insanely busy this month! I’ve got a whole bunch of projects going on all at once, so it’s been a bit of a balancing act, and I haven’t been posting much of anything here or on any social media! Life gets crazy sometimes (particularly mine) and trying to juggle a lot of projects at once can get a little stressful. But in the end, it’ll be worth it.

So… here’s a quick overview of what I’ve been up to.

This past weekend I started teaching our first-year program at OKTC, called “The Actor Grows” or T.A.G. for short. I have 61 students over four classes, and the kids are really great. They’re super enthusiastic and funny, and I’m really looking forward to getting to know them better.

I’ve been working on some new games, which I hope to share on the blog very soon!

I’m currently in rehearsals for The Conchologist: A Dream of E.A. Poe, written and directed by Jason Rip. It’s playing at The ARTS Project from October 21-24… less than a month away! Eek! It’s a play about the last days of Edgar Allan Poe before he died, and I play the aforementioned drunken orangutan. It’s been a challenging and fun process, with a great cast, and some amazing original music by Anne Moniz.

It’s been interesting taking on the persona of an animal, particularly one I’ve never personally encountered (not even at a zoo, I’m pretty sure). You’ll have to come check it out to see how I do! Here’s the inspiration for my character, from Poe’s story “The Murders in the Rue Morgue.”

I’ve also started work on The Trials of Robin Hood, which goes up in December at the Palace Theatre. I’m the assistant fight director, as well as “Assistant to the Insanity” for this ridiculous production. We have a cast of 38 actors and this show truly is a silly, hilarious romp. It’s going to be a great time!

On top of all of that, I’ve got some projects coming up very soon that I can’t reveal yet… but trust me, as soon as I can share, I will!

This post is a bit haphazard and all over the place, but that’s kind of how my past few weeks have been. Once my schedule is a bit more settled (if that’s actually a thing), my posts will be a bit more regular! Work/life balance has never really been my strong suit!

Thanks for sticking with me! 🙂
