Puppet Making Day 3: Return of the Puppets!

The gang was back again at the Palace Theatre on Sunday July 21 to teach a whole crop of new friends to make monster puppets!  They say a picture is worth a thousand words (well, whoever “they” are) so be prepared for a few thousand!

As always, we started promptly at 10 am.  Andrew was a bit ahead of the game though because he started his puppet with Ceris a few nights before.

Signe LOVES the fabric selection process!

This cutie was absolutely delightful.  She knew exactly what kind of puppet she wanted to make.  And I kind of wanted to steal her hat.

These kids were some of the best sewers in the class!  No fear, only confidence.  Love it.

I’m super jealous of Ceris’ awesome new storage unit on wheels.  How great would that be for the travelling craftsperson?!  I really want one… anyone want to get one for me?

Thanks again to everyone who came out to have fun with us!  Thanks as well to the Palace Theatre for hosting us again.  Be sure to read about Puppet Making Day 2: Electric Boogaloo and our first puppet making day!

Cool events coming up… Fight Night and Puppet Making Day 3! Plus more!

So, since [THEY FIGHT!] finished this weekend, I thought this would shape up to be a boring summer.  Well, I’ve been proven wrong already… it’s getting busy again!

This weekend, I’ll be going to a party with the Clark family, as well as helping out with my cousin Ally’s seventh birthday party (the theme is “Mermaids & Manicures,” too cute!) and attending my sorority end of year party!  Then next weekend, I’m back to the microphone with the team for a podcast of The Lovers, The Dreamers and You!  It’s been quite awhile since we’ve podcasted, and I’m anxious to get all our listeners caught up with what we’ve been up to!

Then in July, there’s two fantastic events coming up at the Palace Theatre!

First, on July 3… it’s FIGHT NIGHT!

Fight Night... July 3!

If you missed out on seeing [THEY FIGHT!] at the London Fringe Festival, never fear!  We are remounting the show for one night only, and then showing a screening of The Princess Bride!  Admission is only $5, and kids under 12 are free with an adult.  I’d say that’s a bargain!

Then, on July 13… it’s the return of Puppet Making Day!  (Day 3, to be exact!)

Puppet Making Day 3! July 13!

For only $75, you can come and make your own monster puppet, and lunch is included too!  Our last two puppet making days have filled up really quickly, so if you want to register, contact the Palace Theatre right away!

There really is lots for me to look forward to this summer!  I hope you’ll join in with either or both events!  Fun is guaranteed!

(Oh, and wedding planning too!  That’ll keep me busy, I suppose!)  😛

Do you have any fun events coming up this summer?  What are you looking forward to?  Let me know in the comments!

It’s happening again… Puppet-making at the Palace!

puppet workshop 2

It’s happening again!  After the amazing success of the first puppet-making workshop, the Palace Theatre is hosting a second workshop!  On Saturday April 13 from 10-4, for only $75, you will learn how to create your own monster-style puppet, and lunch is included too.  I’m excited to be assisting with this workshop, which will be led by puppet-extraordinaire Ceris Thomas.

I had so much fun at the first puppet-making workshop, and Lucky is doing very well, thanks!  If you don’t have much sewing experience, don’t worry — I am still very much a rookie with my sewing machine and I was able to make my puppet!  If I can do it, anyone can!

To register, call the Palace Theatre at (519) 432-1029.  Spots are limited, so call NOW!  It’s sure to be a monsterrific event!  BYO-sewing machine!

A special gift.

A wonderful gift I received from one of my T.A.G. students!

A wonderful gift I received from one of my T.A.G. students!

A gift from one of my T.A.G. (The Actor Grows) students — chocolate covered pretzels (there were more but I ate them) and a hand-made card.  This one’s going in the scrapbook. 🙂

The card reads: “What TAG is over!? NO! Without TAG I’m just another mask, another Drama Queen. Boy you taught me quick. Just listen to me! Kerry you are the best and I’m sure you’ll be a great director for THE LITTLE MERMAID. I love your personality see you ’round. RAGE FACE! I gotta’ tell you though I’m gonna miss TAG I sure had fun and learned a lot. This was the best TAG class I’ve ever been in (it’s the only one)! THANKS FOR EVERYTHING KERRY.
