“Theatre actors are so disciplined. Especially if you’re doing musicals,
you have to be in shape physically, mentally, and have to be on your game all the time.
That’s exhausting.”
— Neil Patrick Harris, actor, writer, producer, director, comedian, magician, singer & television host

It takes a special kind of mental discipline to go out on stage 8 times a week and sing the same songs, dance the same dances and say the same line every time.
When I was a child actor in “Sail Away” on Broadway in 1961, I asked Elaine Stritch (the star) about this, and she said something that has stayed with me all these years, “Never forget that someone out there in the audience has never seen or heard this before – and do it for them.”

That is amazing advice, and what a wonderful experience to have shared the stage with Elaine Stritch! Congratulations on your accomplishments!
