This is a cool perspective, isn’t it? It’s a view from the balcony of the Spriet Family Theatre. This week’s throwback is from Original Kids Theatre Company’s Spring 2011 production of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, which I directed. You can see me in the upper left corner in the royal blue shirt (next to my stage manager, Chelsea, also wearing a royal blue shirt!) and it looks like I’m giving notes to the cast. This would have been at either tech or dress rehearsal.
It was my third production at OKTC, and the second one I directed in the Spring 2011 season — crazy me was offered (and accepted) the chance to direct two shows at once (the other being Jolly Roger and the Pirate Queen) and crazy me said yes. I wasn’t supposed to direct this show (the original director ended up not being available) but I’m glad I ended up directing it. I got to work with a great cast of young actors, choreograph some stage combat, and tell a wonderful story onstage. What more could you ask for?
