Sunday Evening Dance Party – My Musical History

I took a trip down memory lane to make this playlist! This list features a number of songs either from a musical I’ve worked on/been in, or used in a show. It’s kind of an, well, eclectic mix, but it’s a lot of fun! Enjoy!

1 – March of the Toy Soldiers from The Nutcracker
I was in The Nutcracker in grade 5, playing a Chinese Tea Party Dancer. I was onstage for all of one minute and 30 seconds.

2 – As Time Goes By by Frank Sinatra
I used this song as the main theme for my production of Inspector Noble and the Figure in Black in 2010.

3 – Down on the Corner by CCR
I directed Saving Grace (written by Len Cuthbert) in the summer of 2010 for LYTE at the Palace, and this was the song that the characters chose to perform for the Battle of the Bands.

4 – Sinfonies du Ballet de la Merlaison by Louis XIII
Ken Ludwig’s The Three Musketeers featured this song in the ball scene… “I love balls!”

5 – It Would Have Been Wonderful from Annie Warbucks
Grace Farrell’s solo from Annie Warbucks is beautiful and haunting.

6 – He’s A Pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean
I used this song as the curtain call music for Jolly Roger & The Pirate Queen in 2011.

7 – The Moon and You by The Beau Hunks
I directed The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in 2011 and used a bunch of music from The Beau Hunks as scene change music.

8 – Prologue/Tradition from Fiddler on the Roof
I directed Fiddler of the Roof Jr. in May 2012, with a cast of young actors aged 7-13.

9 – Sweet Transvestite from The Rocky Horror Show
The first musical I’d been in since The Nutcracker in grade 5. Nice range, eh? Won “Best Show” in the 2012 London Fringe Festival.

10 – Under the Sea from The Little Mermaid
Directed this show in 2013, with a cast of 34 young actors. We sold out the entire 10-show run.

11 – Buffy the Vampire Slayer Theme by Nerf Herder
I played Faith in an adaptation of a scene from Buffy the Vampire Slayer in [THEY FIGHT!], presented at the London Fringe Festival in 2013.

12 – Peter Pan by Paul Spring
OKTC’s March Break show in 2014 was Disney’s Peter Pan Jr. This was our bow music, and the kids were OBSESSED.

13 – Thriller/Heads Will Roll by the cast of Glee
Used this song for bow music for my crazy modernized production of Through the Looking Glass this past August.

14 – Grow Old With You by Adam Sandler
This song is featured in both the movie and stage version of The Wedding Singer, which performs December 4-7 with Original Kids Theatre Company!

15 – Christmas Time Is Here by the Vince Guaraldi Trio
The opening number for A Charlie Brown Christmas, which performs December 13 & 14, 2014, at the Spriet Family Theatre.
