Reviews are in for [THEY FIGHT!]

Hello everyone!  The London Fringe Festival is in full swing and it has been a blast so far.  I’ve met a ton of awesome people, I’ve seen two shows, and I’ve performed on The NO Show again — but right now I’m going to be talking about my own show, [THEY FIGHT!], of course!

First things first — check out this awesome trailer by LDT Online.  We’re at the 2:10 mark if you want to get right down to business!  And if you skip to the 2:36 mark, you’ll see me flying through the air!

Pretty awesome, eh?

What’s even more awesome is the reviews we’ve been getting!  So don’t take it just from me…

We were the first Fringe show to be reviewed by Beat Magazine, who rated us 3 out of 4 stars!  Here are some highlights from the article!

[They Fight!] recreates and reimagines scenes from (and inspired by), classic dramas such as Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Dumas’ Le Compte de Monte Cristo, and Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. These productions are interspersed with fight scenes culled from more modern sources, such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer (with a bang-on Buffy and Faith duo), Kevin Smith’s Clerks’ films, and Tarantino’s [Kill] Bill.

That Buffy and Faith duo would be Whitney Bolam and myself as Buffy and Faith, respectively.  Yahhhhh!

From the frantic swordplay of the Macbeth scene to the slapstick goofiness of the Clerks’ fight, to the stylized interjection of slowed-down combat of Tarantino’s Kill Bill, [They Fight!] offers a broad overview of theatrical and cinematic fighting that packs a punch – pun fully intended. And it all culminates in a wildly entertaining western-style brawl, complete with corsets and people crashing through tables.

It isn’t high drama, nor is it intended to be. [They Fight!] is 40 minutes of frenetic, fast-paced, light-hearted fun.

This reviewer definitely got it!  Read the entire article here: http://www.thebeatmagazine.ca/index.php/theatre-reviews/1672-they-fight-packs-a-punch

A bang-on Buffy and Faith duo!

Our second review was from Theatreinlondon.ca:

They battled, they brawled and they crossed their swords. And boy, it looked like fun!

[They Fight!] is a stage direction found in many theatre productions, movie and television scripts. Sometimes the fights are humourous, other times brutal and bloody. But from duels to all out brawls, the fights in this show are sure to entertain.

Drawing inspiration from Shakespearean characters, vampire slayers, nerds and more, this production is light hearted, lively and a fun 40 minutes of watching people duke it out. It ends with one of the most entertaining brawls you will see in London without hearing approaching sirens and running feet.

So what we need now is YOU!  Come on down to the Spriet Family Theatre, 130 King Street, and check us out!  Tickets are $10, plus the purchase of a Fringe Backer Button.  You have four more chances to see [THEY FIGHT!] before Fringe is over!
